Where We Live
We live in California in the small city of Sunnyvale, about an hour south of San Francisco. Because we are near the bay, the Pacific Ocean, and the Santa Cruz mountains, we can indulge our love of nature. Sunnyvale has a cute downtown area not far from our house, which is where the weekly farmers' market is. We enjoy going to San Francisco for special events or to visit friends, but we’re also happy to live somewhere a bit quieter.
Sunnyvale is in Silicon Valley, the technology capital of the world. Because Dan works in the tech industry, this is a great place for us to be long-term. Living in such an affluent area means that we have access to high-quality schools, parks, and museums. We love that Silicon Valley is culturally diverse: we have friends here from more than 10 countries!
We live in a comfy 3-bedroom house in a quiet neighborhood, just a few
blocks from the closest elementary and middle schools. Our neighborhood has a great park with a pool, jungle gyms, tennis courts, and playing fields. We have neighbors of many ethnic backgrounds: white, Asian, African-American, and Latino. We love that we live in an old-fashioned neighborhood where kids do things like ride bikes together in the evenings and have roadside lemonade stands on Saturday afternoon.
We have a great fenced backyard, with a deck where we entertain year-round, a little vegetable garden, and lots of space to install a playset!
